LET REUBEN LIVE, AND NOT DIE

“Let Reuben live, and not die, Nor let his men be few.” Deuteronomy 33:6. This decree is very important and necessary because Ruben, who was the first son of Jacob and one of the tribes of Israel, was cursed by his father because he had slept with one of his concubines.“Reuben, you are my firstborn, My  might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it—He went up to my couch’ Genesis 49:3-4. The curse was removed by God through Moses to prevent the Reuben tribe from drying up due to His mercy.

'Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children’ Isaiah 49:24-25. Your actions could have made you a lawful captive like Reuben, but God has delivered you today through His mercy.  The Scripture says that curse is a curse that hangs on a tree. Therefore, Jesus Christ has set us free from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). The Son (Christ) has set you free today and you are free indeed (John 8:36). It's important to remember that Christ can't liberate you if you don't have Him as your Lord and Savior. Acknowledge Him as your Lord and Savior today to become a new creature. 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new’ 2 Corinthians 5:17.
