FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN (2) “WONDERFUL COUNSELOR”

 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. Isaiah 9:6

In the previous part, we discussed 'the government shall be upon His shoulder', and today, we'll explore the phrase 'Wonderful Counselor'. Keep in mind that we are discussing the most significant gift ever given to the world.

Who is a counselor? He is trained to provide guidance on personal or psychological problems. They provide advice to those who need it. Wisdom, knowledge, and experience are the necessary traits of a counselor. We were informed in the first part that Jesus is the embodiment of God's wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24). Also, Jesus, though God, came to this world in the flesh as a human just to experience and feel how it is like. The Scripture says in Hebrew 4:15 “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin (Amp).  Many missed it in life because they were victims of wrong counsel, although the book of Proverbs 8:14 says, 'Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.'

I want you to know that Christ understands whatever you may be going through. Do you remember him weeping (John 11:35) when his friend Lazarus died, although he later raised him up (John 11:41-45).

Do you need counsel about wealth? He said He is the one that teaches your hand to profit (Isaiah 48:17)

Is it about healing? He said that by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Do you require wisdom? He suggested that you ask Him and he will provide it generously (James 1:5). Are you lonely or have people around you forsaken you? He made a promise not to leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Go to him today. He is waiting for you. He is the wonderful counselor. He is full of wisdom, knows the future, controls all things, and can never fail or mislead you.

You can always trust Him, He won’t get tired of you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He shall direct your paths.

 -Proverbs 3 : 5-6
