An ongoing series of catastrophic wildfires has been affecting the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions since Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The fires were exacerbated by the presence of low humidity, dry conditions, and Santa Ana winds that reached 100 miles per hour (160 km/h; 45 m/s) in some locations. As of January 12, the wildfires have caused at least 16 deaths, compelled over 180,000 to leave, and destroyed or damaged more than 12,401 structures. The Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire are the two fires that have caused the most damage. Imagine the loss that some analysts predicted would amount to over $20 billion.   According to the Bible, Elemelech took his wife Naomi and two children, Mahlon and Chilion, and relocated to Moab due to the famine in Bethlehem. Naomi and two widows of her sons named Ruth and Oprah were left behind after the man and his children passed away. After finding out that Jerusalem's economy is better, Naomi made the decision to return there. Naomi convinced the widows of her sons to stay back, despite their intentions to follow her back to Bethlehem. Oprah left, but Ruth remained and swore that death would be the only thing that could separate them. But Ruth said:“Entreat[e] me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.  Jesus healed ten lepers while on route to Jerusalem through Samaria and Galilee, but only one came back to thank and praise Him ( Luke 17:11-19 ). To understand the importance of being thankful, you can see Jesus asking about the remaining nine. ‘Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Luke 17:17-18. Then Jesus said to him in verse 19, 'Rise and go; your faith has made you well.' Does that mean that the remaining nine people were also healed but not well ? As 2024 approaches its conclusion in a few days, let us reflect on all that God has done for us and express genuine gratitude. Grace is the reason for our survival, not our ability to do anything. The Hebrew word for peace is'shalom'. Judges 6:24 says And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means “the Lord is peace”). Let's keep in mind that we are presenting the greatest gift ever given to the world, and thanks to God, we have covered the topics of 'The government shall be upon His shoulder', 'Wonderful counselor', and 'The Almighty God', all of which are connected to Jesus Christ. Everlasting means 'lasting forever', which means 'eternal'. The Everlasting Father status of Jesus Christ signifies that he will be our father throughout eternity, without any end. He was present before the world and will continue to be even after the world ceases to exist. He has been our Father and won't cease to be just because of his love towards us.
